So the focus of The Plan B Project has changed since I created it a few years ago. I have decided to incorporate the word [b]anthropist into my every day life. A [b]anthropist is “a person who seeks to promote the welfare of others, especially by the generous donation of their time, professional skills and money to good causes.” (I am going to trademark that name, so don’t go stealing it!) You do not need to be “wealthy” to give back. I became the founder of Relay For Life of Bermuda with ZERO dollars and we raised over $500,000 gross in the first year. I got the ball rolling, but hundreds of volunteers and the Bermuda Cancer & Health Centre organization, made it all happen. But it started with me.
At the end of 2014, we attended an event at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute here in Bermuda and listened to Philip “Papa” Rego talk about what he was doing with the Feed My Lamb Ministry in Haiti. I was hooked. That night we decided to sponsor a young 5 year old by the name of Winder.
For me, this was just the foundation. I have now decided to move forward to help take this organization get to the next level. They do not need my help to continue doing what they do best, but I can see so much more for the group…that I want to jump in and help.
Be a [b]anthropist and give back. Even giving a little time can make a HUGE impact in someones life or to an organization.
