Earlier in the month (we are in September) I was able to attend a Salesforce, Dreamforce event in San Francsico. Salesforce is this amazing tool that I use as part of my Insurance job. Salesforce is a powerhouse in the industry and when Chairmen and CEO, Mark Benioff started the company in 1999 he put in place a philanthropic model. This philanthropic model is the 1-1-1 Model, which dedicated 1% of Salesforce’s equity, 1% of Salesforce’s product and 1% of Salesforce employees’ time back to communities around the world. A simple idea: Leverage Salesforce’s people, technology, and resources to help improve communities around the world.
So, back to the Dramforce event. During their events, they are always finding ways to have participants give back. This year they were trying to raise One Million Books (#DFGives). I was able to participate and brought children’s books from Bermuda to California.
Salesforce is now working with Room to Read
In Statistically, two-thirds of girls are uneducated. Yet when girls and women are educated, it improves the lives and prospects of entire families and communities, building peaceful, productive, stable societies. Through literacy, Room to Read works to bring quality education and opportunity to children across Asia and Africa. Discover how the Salesforce Foundation has been an important partner to Room to Read from the very beginning, and join both teams on a deeply moving trip to Cambodia.
